Vidya Balan born is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood movies. she is also a cousin of popular Tamil-National Award Winning actress Priyamani. Balan, who began her career starring in many music videos, soap operas and many commercials, made her acting debut in the Bengali film, Bhalo Theko (2003), for which she won critical acclaim. She later made her Hindi film debut with Parineeta (2005), for which she received a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award, and received her first commercial success with Rajkumar Hirani's Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006). In the most sensational movie of Bollywood, ' The Dirty Picture', Vidya potrays the role of Silk Smitha bags all attractions.

Vidya Balan was born on 1 January, 1978 in Ottapalam, Kerala. She has studied at St. Anthony's Convent School, St. Xavier's College and got degree in Sociology. She attained Masters degree from Bombay University. Her most successful film is "The Dirty Picture" with Emraan Hashmi. Ishqiya, Kahaani also her as a leading contemporary. She promotes humanitarian causes and supports the empowerment of women. She is trained in carnatic music and briefly studied the dance forms of Bharatnatyam and Kathak.
